FAQ
What is the weather like in Boulder?
Weather in September in Colorado is highly unpredictable. It could be 85 degrees and sunny, or snowing (though this is less likely). We suggest packing lots of layers and bringing items appropriate for all four seasons.
What's the dress code?
Please see individual events for attire recommendations. For all events, bringing a jacket for the evening is a good idea, especially if you're wearing short sleeves!
What should I do to prepare for the change in altitude?
Boulder is approximately 5,318 feet (1620.92 meters) above sea level. We highly recommend drinking plenty of water, wearing lots of sunscreen, and bringing a hat and/or sunglasses especially when extended time outdoors. Pace yourself and take it easy with hikes and other outdoor activities if coming straight from sea level, and keep in mind that alcohol hits you much harder here (hangovers can be doubly painful at altitude!) All of this advice is important in Boulder, but even more important if you plan on visiting the mountains while in Colorado.
How easy is it to get around Boulder?
Very easy! Central Boulder is very walkable and Lyfts and Ubers are usually available for longer distances. The city also has a good bus system that many CU college students rely on. (https://bouldercolorado.gov/services/bus).
